TVYP 2007 programme announced ( 27/08/2007 )

Prestigious free scheme helps TV entrants kick-start their career and meet key industry players. The 150 delegates, who were hand-picked from over 2,000 applicants to attend Television and Young People (TVYP), the prestigious free five day course held alongside the Edinburgh TV Festival this August will have an unrivalled opportunity to meet and learn from top industry players. The TVYP programme is designed to give delegates an overview of all the different aspects of the television industry, including production, commissioning, PR, marketing, sales and handling talent.

TVYP applicants voted Sir David Attenborough the most inspirational person in TV (19%), followed by Sir Trevor McDonald (17%) and Louis Theroux (14%). Planet Earth (17%), The Apprentice (15%), Doctor Who (14%) and Panorama (8%) were voted the best programmes on TV. The programme they would most like to axe is Big Brother (41%).

The acclaimed scheme, which takes place between the 23 and 27 August, returns to Edinburgh for its 17th year and has helped to launch hundreds of TV careers, with alumni including Danny Wallace, presenter and author, and Dominic Bird, Executive Producer of Dragons Den, to name but a few.

Delegates who attend TVYP are also given the opportunity to apply for a six month paid work placement at some of the most prestigious TV companies in the UK through the TVYP at Work programme.
