Training & Skills

As part of our ongoing commitment to the development of training and skills within the screen sector in Scotland, Scottish Screen has delegated responsibility and resource to Skillset Scotland to improve the skills levels of individuals and freelancers, and help develop businesses in order to build a sustainable screen industry in Scotland.

Between 2006 and 2008, Scottish Screen's delegation totaled £800,000, which included £600,000 of National Lottery funds.  This support was continued in 2008 and 2009 with an additional award of £60,000 grant in aid funds to develop the careers service in Scotland.

In 2009/10 Scottish Screen delegated £69,000 to Skillset Scotland to further develop the careers service and to provide training bursary support for industry practitioners.

In addition, Scottish Screen runs the NETS training programmes, GASP! animation skills training programme, and supports Screen Academy Scotland.
