Developing Audiences

Scottish Screen is committed to ensuring that the widest range of film and digital screen content is appreciated by a diversity of audiences.

We work with independent film theatres throughout Scotland to ensure that as many people as possible enjoy access to the best of British independent and world cinema.

We also support two of the UK's leading film festivals, the Edinburgh International Film Festival and Glasgow Film Festival. While, at the other end of the spectrum, we invest in a variety of smaller projects festivals, public events and tours which are designed to help increase audiences in areas that are under-served by cinemas.

We are particularly proud of Screen Machine, a mobile cinema which tours rural Scotland taking the latest films to the remotest communities and which is managed by Regional Screen Scotland.
